5 Posting Tips for Facebook

With roughly 1.71 billion monthly active users and the average person spending 50 minutes a day on Facebook, there is tremendous opportunity to become the main source of real estate news for the people who like and follow your Facebook page.

Here are a few tips to make the most of your business page, without spending a dime:

  1. Focus on Value

Have a healthy balance of promotional content (such as just listed properties or recent testimonials) and content meant for engagement alone. You will have more people interacting with your page and have a better chance of growing your Facebook fan base. That way, when you do publish promotional content, it will be exposed to a much bigger audience.

Here are some ideas for value content you could post to your page:

  • News articles about the real estate market in your area
  • Changes to mortgage rules
  • Community/local area events
  • Blog posts
  • Photos from client appreciation events
  • Video tour of homes
  • Entertaining or viral videos related to your market
  • Real estate stats and trends
  1. Post at The Right Time

Research has shown that the most popular times to post are 9am, 1pm and 3pm, with 3pm Wednesday being the sweet spot. While there has been a lot of research done on this, do what works best for your audience. Check your “post” insights on the back end of your page to see when your fans are online and try to post during those popular times in order to be seen by your fans.

  1. Be Current and Consistent

More important than when you post is that you post relevant and current content consistently. Your Facebook page should act as a resource for clients. There’s nothing worse than an unmanaged Facebook page that hasn’t been updated in a month or more. It makes you look unprofessional and doesn’t provide clients or prospects with any value.

  1. Add Photos and Video

Posts with photos generate far more engagement than text alone. If you’re going to post a link to a blog post or article without a photo, make sure to add your own to increase the amount of viewers.

Instead of linking to a YouTube video or other channel, add video directly to your Facebook page. Facebook has started automatically playing native Facebook videos in news feeds without clicking to a link, which gets your video in front of more people faster.

  1. Be Human

Social media is a great opportunity to relate to your audience and increase your likability, so don’t be afraid to add your own flair and showcase your personality with your posts. Most importantly, make sure whatever you post is in line with what you stand for as an agent. Your fans have liked your page, probably because they like what you stand for, so keep up the good work and remain authentic. An authentic business will thrive and prosper.

Remember, It’s a beautiful life , make it count.
