When you think of the lifestyles of high-powered, successful business professionals what habits come to mind? Hard work? Determination? Working long hours? While these behaviours will no doubt bring you success, there is one key component missing from this equation which will make you more productive, and therefore, successful in your business practices. Can you guess what that is? It is getting more sleep!

In her book, Thrive, Arianna Huffington discusses the importance of sleep. What she found was that people need at least 8.3 hours of sleep a night, but most are getting only 5. Arianna was guilty of poor sleep hygiene herself, and it took fainting at her job from exhaustion for her to realize that she was hurting herself more than helping herself. The funny thing is when she started sleeping more, and working less, she became more productive and more focused and made less mistakes, which meant she spent less time fixing errors and more time working constructively. She said that, “every major mistake I made was because I wasn’t getting enough sleep.”

Many real estate professionals I know are doing the same thing. They’re working 12-14 hour days, sleeping 3-5 hours a night, and yet, still aren’t happy with their business. It’s easy to put in time and be busy, but it’s not always easy to be consistent in your efficiency and productivity. How would you like to sleep more, and spend more time on activities you love, with the people you care about?

Watch this short video and you will not only learn how to better your sleep hygiene, but also find out how not getting enough sleep can affect your bottom line, and how getting 8 or more hours of sleep a night can actually boost sales and productivity so you can do more for your business in less time, allowing you more time for leisure activities and spending time with the family.

I’m curious, how many hours of sleep do you need? Share your sleep number in the comments.

Until then, make it count!
