Small Talk Leads to Big Results | Richard Robbins

All things being equal, people will do business with and
refer business to, those people they know, like and trust.”

When it comes to buying or selling one of our most valuable assets (our homes), rest assured pixels cannot replace people. People want to buy from people but not just anyone – someone they like, trust and value.

Relationships are the foundation of most successful real estate businesses today; and trust is at the heart of all great relationships. Building trust takes time but it starts with learning to build rapport and increasing your likeability factor with others.

Here are two ways to create big likeability using small talk.

  1. Find Similarity
It’s natural to like people who are just like us. Have you ever noticed when you meet someone you share common interests with, you like them a little quicker than others? Me too.

So work on finding similarities in others. Ask questions about their interests, family, hobbies, careers, education, where they grew up or anything you feel you may have in common. This is a great bridge builder.

Bonus Thought: Spend time getting to know someone before you begin any negotiations and watch how much smoother and more successful your interactions become!

  1. Be Generous with Your Compliments
A compliment can literally light up someone’s day. It’s a gift you can give to anyone, anytime, and one that makes both the giver and receiver feel good.

Take time to find the beauty and good in others and tell them. Be sincere and speak from the heart. Making someone else feel important and valued is a small talk that holds big rewards.

Until next time, make it count.
