Ep #120: Slowing Down to Speed Up with Royal LePage COO, Carolyn Cheng

On the 120th episode of The Richard Robbins Show, I spoke with a highly respected industry leader. Carolyn Cheng is Chief Operating Officer (COO) for one of Canada’s largest real estate franchises, Royal LePage, as well as an award-winning abstract aerial photographer with her work shown in many Canadian galleries and published in National Geographic.

Carolyn has been with Royal LePage or Brookfield Investment Firm in some capacity for almost 25 years.  As COO, Carolyn is charged with the ongoing development of the Company’s value proposition to attract and retain brokerages, teams and agents in the industry’s ever-changing landscape.

With her foot seemingly on the gas pedal at all times, Carolyn knows that it’s natural to feel like slowing down can hurt your progress, “Hard work has got you where you are now, and it’s not intuitive to take a step back”.

However, Carolyn has found that finding a hobby that you truly love can help influence your work life in amazing ways.

In this episode of The Richard Robbins Show, Carolyn and I talk about the importance of work-life balance and finding a hobby that encourages creativity and physical activity. She talks about the power of collaboration at work, key priorities for success in business and why creating an annual goal list is only powerful when you review it monthly, weekly and daily.
